Guys does it actually hurt when u get hit inbetween your legs?

i was just wondering b/c we were playing hockey in p e/gym and a guy on my team got hit..there..with a hockey puck and he was crying and curled up into a ball on the ground screaming for like 3 minutes lol and it was kinda funny haha how bad does it hurt?
