Good Scotch to sip on?

What are some good Scotch brands to sip on, smooth ones. Ive never really tried them, but the times that I did it was shots and they burned like bourbon, but I never gave the smoothness a shot by sipping on it. The one that comes to mind with me is what kind of Scotch does Ron White drink? I remember he said it was the kind that people drank that would die penniless, what does that mean? Like was it cheap or expensive as hell?
